Help Us Fight Infection
There are a number of things you can do to help us fight infection at Hinchingbrooke Hospital:
- Do not visit patients if you are feeling unwell, have diarrhoea, vomiting or flu-like symptoms.
- If you are told that the person you are visiting has an infection, please do not visit other patients in the hospital afterwards.
- Always clean your hands before entering a ward, after contact with patients and when you leave the ward.
- If you see a sign on the door or outside of the bay you wish to visit, please ask a nurse before you enter the bay. This will ensure that you know whether to put on gloves and apron and if there are any other precautions you should take.
Visiting hours and restrictions
In some circumstances, we may need to take the decision to restrict or even stop visiting to our wards, for example to protect our patients when there are widespread cases of an infectious disease in the community. When such a decision is made, the named contact of an inpatient should be informed by telephone by a member of the ward staff.
There are restrictions on visiting at Hinchingbrooke. We ask that each patient has no more than two visitors at any one time and that no children under the age of 12 visit wards. We also insist that visitors do not sit on patient beds or eat or drink anything in the ward area.
