There are increasing reports of cases of Norovirus, the infection that causes diarrhoea and vomiting, in our local community.
Norovirus spreads incredibly quickly in the hospital environment, leading to ward closures and serious disruption to our activities.
The infection can be spread by visitors, and for this reason, it is important that you do not visit the hospital if you have suffered from any symptoms of diarrhoea and/or vomiting in the previous 48 hours. By doing so, you will help to protect our vulnerable patients.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Following positive feedback from Staff, Patients and Visitors during a recent pilot scheme on new visiting hours we will now be permanently extending our visiting hours. All main ward areas will be open to visitors from 2-8pm, (this excludes Maternity, Treatment Centre, CCC and ECC).
Please note that visiting hours may be subject to change for infection control purposes.
A new service for the most seriously injured patients is to be created and needs the public's views on how it should be run.
A major trauma centre is set to be established at Addenbrooke's Hospital, with local hospitals acting as a trauma network. For more information and how to have your say - Surviving Major Trauma - Information Pack
Hinchingbrooke now has an awards scheme to recognise our staff who show commitment to the Trust or who go above and beyond the call of duty. Could you nominate one of our staff, or a team, for this award? See here: Staff Awards Scheme for more details.
Hinchingbrooke is proud to announce ‘that we are fully compliant in the DoH Standard on single sex accommodation, meaning that patients who are admitted to our hospital will only share the room where they sleep with members of the same sex, and same sex toilets and bathrooms will be close to their bed area. Sharing with members of the opposite sex will only happen by exception based on clinical need for example where patients need specialist equipment such as in ITU or CCU or when requiring close clinical observation such as stroke monitoring, or when patients choose to share for example when undergoing dialysis or chemotherapy.
