Safeguarding children - declaration of compliance

All NHS trusts were asked to complete a questionnaire, covering capability, capacity and systems and governance and accountability, during February and March 2009.

As a result of the submissions the Care Quality Commission issued a report in July 2009 which made 4 recommendations, two of which are relevant particularly to Hinchingbrooke Healthcare NHS Trust (Page 5 of the report)

  • NHS trust boards should review their arrangements for safeguarding children, which should be completed within 6 months of the report’s publication
  • NHS trust boards should pay close attention to the guidance on the requirements for registration, as per the draft guidance issued on 1 June 2009
