The Department of Health has tasked all NHS Trusts to undertake a review of their existing MRSA policy and MRSA guidelines.
Trusts have been asked to develop and have implemented an MRSA Screening Programme for all their Elective (Planned) Admission patients by the 31 March 2009.
The aim of the Department of Health strategy is to help Trusts reduce MRSA infection though screening patients in identified “at risk “groups and undertake a programme of decolonisation treatment. This decolonisation programme has been developed in conjunction with NHS Cambridgeshire.
