The Critical Care team at Hinchingbrooke Hospital are delighted to receive a generous donation of seven televisions from the volunteers at the Charity Stall.
Each year the Charity Stall, which is located in the main entrance of the hospital and run by volunteers, raises a huge amount of money from selling donated items from staff, patients and visitors, such as jigsaw puzzles and books.
The money raised is then put towards items that will benefit patients within the hospital such as additional medical equipment or patient comforts. Last year the charity stall raised over £33,000 and since they started in 1984 they have now raised over £1 million.
The TVs have now been mounted onto the walls in seven rooms throughout Critical Care for patients to watch while they are recovering.
Each of the flat screen TVs even has a DVD player included to give patients the option to watch films as an alternative.
Corin Prunty, Lead Nurse for Critical Care Unit said, “We would like to thank the Charity Stall for this generous donation. It really does make an enormous difference for our patients.
“By simply watching something on the TV or even having the noise in the background, breaks up the monotony of the day for our patients and gives them something that they can enjoy doing while they recuperate.”
Sue Smith, Chairman for Hinchingbrooke Health Care NHS Trust said, “We have a fantastic team of volunteers within the Trust and are very grateful to the charity stall for this donation. It really does mean a lot to us and items such as these are a huge benefit to our patients.”
