In East Anglia, routine screening for Down's Syndrome usually takes the form of Nuchal Transluceny (NT) measurement. This is measuring the thickness of the fluid space at the back of the baby’s neck.
Or the screening can be carried out after 14 weeks up to 19 weeks and 6 days.
This scan also checks for other abnormalities although a more detailed scan is carried out between 18 weeks and 20 weeks and 6 days
