Hinchingbrooke Hospital’s Eye Unit provides eye care to the residents of Huntingdon and the surrounding areas. The unit is modern, extremely well equipped and caters for all aspects of eye health and disease. Our consultants also run eye clinics in Doddington County Hospital and The Princess of Wales Hospital, Ely. Many of our eye consultants also work in Addenbrooke's Hospital and in the Moorfields Eye Unit at Bedford Hospital.

Most eye surgery is done as day case without requiring an overnight hospital stay. All eye conditions are treated in the unit as well as general eye clinics, emergency eye clinics and clinics for cataract and cataract-related disorders.

Community and hospital care

Our staff in the eye unit work closely with specially trained community optometrists and orthoptists so that patients can be cared for outside of the hospital and closer to home wherever possible.

Where to find us

The eye unit can be found on the first floor of Hinchingbrooke Hospital's Treatment Centre. The Ophthalmic Theatre and the day case Procedure Unit are adjacent to the eye clinic area. Children having eye surgery attend the newly opened Holly Children's Unit and have their operation in the operating complex in the main hospital area.
