Rheumatology at Hinchingbrooke covers a wide range of services. provides a full spectrum of rheumatology services through the rheumatology outpatient department, based in the Hinchingbrooke Hospital Day Treatment Centre, where a comprehensive range of local injection treatments and disease modifiying treatments are available.

A full range of investigation facilities are also available including outpatient clinic based polarised light microscopy facilities. The department works closely with the hospital physiotherapy, occupational therapy and orthotics departments and patients are referred on to these departments if required.

Day case facilities for infusion treatments are also available in the day treatment centre (in a separate area to the outpatient facility). The rheumatology department can admit patients to the general medical wards if this is required. The department also provides a telephone helpline for patient support - 01480 416044

Each year the department sees approximately:

  • 750 New outpatients
  • 2,250 Follow Up outpatients 2285
  • 60 Daycases and elective inpatients
  • 340 Outpatient Procedures: 344
