Patients who are not eligible for Stroke Thrombolysis are admitted here to Hinchingbrooke Hospital for their acute stay, and rehabilitation. Patients are admitted for investigations into the cause of their stroke such as CT Head, carotid Doppler, and cardiac investigation.
Our rehabilitation team is made up of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Dietetics. We organise thorough discharge planning, with support in place for care packages and equipment.
We have a 25/30 bedded ward, which includes side rooms and monitored beds for the acute stroke patients and we have a large rehabilitation gym which is used for therapy.
Our stroke service is actively involved in national and regional events to support development of the stroke service and education of its staff.
We see on average between 150-180 patients per year. We also run four clinics a week which can see TIA patients for outpatient investigations.
